Oops, I disappeared again. Shame on me.

Honestly, I just haven’t felt compelled to post lately. I’ve been focusing on other projects & seem to lose track of time when working on them…which is actually a very good thing. Geeking out on furniture, lighting, etc. waaaay too much since ICFF is coming up in a couple of days and I’ll be covering portions of it, which will be fab. So, adieu for now.

Chicago-based designer David Sieren is a super-busy, super-talented, super-nice guy. He’s principle of Another Studio, member of The Post Family, designer of streng’s new website (which is awesome by the way), and is likely doing 10,000 other projects that I’m not aware of.

In other news, my new column for Vice launched last week! Dick Clark’s heart attack, Kenny Rogers Roasters. What a blast to write whatever the hell I want. And speaking of hell, I’m going straight to it.

Where was I? I’m a huge fan of Beach House. Their 4th record Bloom is out on Sub Pop May 15th. This song “Lazuli”? It’s essentially Book of Love circa Candy Carol. And then add some darker vocals from Victoria that sound a lot like those of Fleetwood Mac’s Christine McVie. It’s just f*ing amazing … all twinkly. Let’s all try to use that word today--twinkly.

Hi Lovely Friends,

My posts have been a bit sporadic. For shame. But so much fun stuff going on: Milan Design Week, an upcoming feature review of Best Coast’s new record for BUST, new freelance projects for Design Bureau & Vice (whee!), and… what day is it? I forget. I’m happiest when busy & there is certainly no shortage of busy.

So, I’ll be away for a few days. But I will keep my calendar updated for you (as always). Lots of fun stuff going on in NYC in the coming days: BUST Craftacular, Brooklyn Zine Fest, and Chicago’s Disappears @ Glasslands on April 18. And it’s spring. Hurray! Have a fabulous weekend.

So, when I moved to NYC from Chicago 3 years ago of course I went directly to Seagull for all of my beauty parlor needs. The staff are some of the most genuine people I’ve met in NYC so far. I’m so happy that Cosmetic Cache received a submission from Seagull’s co-owner / lead stylist Shaun SureThing. He’s the best.

My new side project with Megan Holmes, Cosmetic Cache, is so much fun. Our first submission came from screenprinter Alana Bailey–a can of Aqua Net and a “Daddy” mug were involved. Love it.

And yesterday we received a cool submission from Chicago-based writer/editor Mairead Case. When I posted the above pic on facebook everyone went cuckoo for the lipstick, M·A·C’s Ruby Woo. Thanks Mairead. I just bought *another* tube of red lipstick! To see Mairead’s list of items go here.
